With more than 200 horses and donkeys on the property, feeding the herd is one of Big Hoof Foundation's largest and most consistent expenses.

Providing lifelong sanctuary starts with something very simple: making sure every horse has enough to eat.

Approximately 20 of our special-needs horses receive additional feed and individualized care inside the barn.

Specialized feed for these horses costs approximately $4,000 every two weeks.

That works out to roughly:

PER DAY

PER HORSE

PER DAY

for those 20 horses alone.

And that's before many of the other costs involved in their care.

Two Easy Ways to Help Fill the Feed Room

Feed The Herd

Make a donation toward the sanctuary's ongoing hay and feed expenses. Your gift helps us purchase the nutrition our horses need throughout the year.

Buy Feed Directly

Prefer to purchase feed yourself? Our local feed-store partner allows supporters to purchase feed directly for Big Hoof Foundation.

You purchase it through the store.
We pick it up.
The horses eat it.

Tomorrow Morning,

That's the reality of lifelong sanctuary.

There isn't an end date to feeding them.

There isn't a point when the work is finished.

There is simply another morning, another feeding and another day we've promised to be here.

Help us keep that promise.
